The Jubilee Exhibition opened on 21 June 1887 with all the pomp and ceremony befitting the double jubilee celebrations of fifty years of the colony of South Australia and of the reign of the British monarch, Queen Victoria. Despite the widespread newspaper coverage of the day and the public enthusiasm which the Exhibition generated, it has attracted little attention in the literature regarding Australian and International exhibitions. This book aims to fill that knowledge gap; it tells the story of the Adelaide Jubilee International Exhibition from the perspectives of the event itself, the building and grounds where it was housed, and its legacy.
